Ethical Code

This code is intended to reflect and outline the ethical code by which the MeteoGroup businesses operate in our pursuit of excellence in weather forecasting. It reflects our core values of honesty, integrity, quality and innovation, and is intended to promote high standards of practice and performance. It applies to all company employees.

The Code:

1. Employees 

MeteoGroup aims to engender a productive and respectful environment in which employees can work and prosper. The personal development and optimum use of employee talent is strongly encouraged, and MeteoGroup welcomes the open and active exchange of ideas. Employees will be promoted and/or remunerated on the basis of merit.  Any discrimination or harassment on the basis of gender, age, religious belief or race will not be tolerated.  

2. Customers 

MeteoGroup will treat customers fairly, honestly and responsibly. MeteoGroup will work to understand customers’ needs and requirements and will aim to provide quality and efficient services at all times.   

3. Suppliers 

MeteoGroup will treat suppliers fairly, honestly and responsibly, and aims to build relationships based on mutual trust.  

4. Community 

MeteoGroup is a socially responsible company and aims to benefit the countries where it operates. It undertakes to comply fully with all laws in those countries and to promote responsible and fair trading and working practices, while respecting cultural differences.  

5. Environment and Sustainability 

MeteoGroup aims to minimise its impact on the environment and to promote environmentally friendly behaviour. In promoting sustainability, MeteoGroup seeks to achieve its business objectives whilst working to protect the environment for today and the future.  

As a minimum:

Companies must make recycling facilities available to employees, and where practical should take advantage of any additional recycling schemes available.

Employees should endeavour to reduce waste to a minimum, and in particular should seek to minimise unnecessary printing. Scrap paper should be re-used where possible.  

Unnecessary power consumption should be reduced as much as possible. Computers, monitors, printers and photocopiers (with the exception of servers and data processing computer systems) should be switched off at the end of each day, so as not to waste power. Lights should be switched off at night time in unused areas.         

6. Health and Safety/Working Conditions 

MeteoGroup believes all employees are entitled to safe and healthy working conditions, and meets all local health and safety legislation in the countries in which it operates. MeteoGroup is committed to the prevention of any violation of basic Human Rights. 

As a minimum, all employees must work in a comfortable and safe office environment with safe equipment, and must be able to take regular breaks from their work.  

7. Conflict of interest 

MeteoGroup seeks to operate on a level playing field, and does not allow or condone bribery in any form. Employees must seek to avoid conflicts of interest, and must disclose any that do exist. Actions must not be influenced by such conflicts in any way.  

8. Information 

MeteoGroup undertakes to behave in a responsible manner in regards to all information to which it is privy. Appropriate measures will be taken to protect copyrighted or licensed information or any other confidential or otherwise protected information of customers and other third parties.
